What is Botox® and what does it do?
Botox® blocks signals from the nerves to the muscles. The injected muscle can’t contract. That makes the wrinkles relax and soften. Botox is most often used on forehead lines, crow’s feet (lines around the eye), and frown lines.
How long will it take for me to see results following my anti-wrinkle injections?
It can take up to 2 weeks to see the full effect of the treatment.
How long will the anti-wrinkle treatment last?
It will last for 3-6 months.
Do the anti-wrinkle treatments and dermal fillers involve any pain?
You may experience some mild discomfort during the treatment, however we use topical anaesthetic creams which reduces the discomfort for many of our procedures.

Each individual varies. The current recommended amount for the first year is every 4 months, followed by every 6 months in the following years as the treatment lasts for a longer duration.

Dermal Filler FAQs
What are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal Fillers are a group of gel substances which are used in facial aesthetics to contour, add volume or plump up areas where wrinkles and folds have appeared due to ageing or scarring. Dermal fillers are usually based on Hyaluronic Acid (HA) which naturally occurs in our skin and joints to hydrate and lubricate. Unfortunately we produce less and less of this HA as we age, which leads to dehydration, lack of volume, drooping and deepening of lines and wrinkles.
How do dermal fillers work?
By introducing a HA under the skin, volume which has been lost through ageing will re-appear creating a smoother, youthful appearance. The HA will attract water to it further bringing hydration to the area leading to fresh, revitalized skin.
When will I see results?
You will see results instantly; however there may be slight swelling too due to the slight tissue trauma.
How long will the dermal filler effects last?
Dermal Fillers are long-lasting but not permanent, they usually last between 6-8 months depending on the area but this can vary for different individuals.
How long will it take for my dermal filler treatment?
After your consultation the treatment can take up to 40 minutes, this includes time for the numbing cream to activate.
What are the risks of dermal fillers?
If you have a history of cold sores, the likelyhood of an outbreak is high. An anti-herpes treatment will be advised to hopefully stop this happening. There is always a risk of an allergic reaction, but this is extremely rare. There is also a risk of infection, this is why it is vital to be treated in a clinically safe environment where stringent sterile precautions can be taken and its absolutely necessary to follow the after-care instructions which will be given to you.
What are the side effects?
Short term side effects can include redness, swelling, pain, itching, bruising or tenderness at the injection site, these can be relieved with a cold compress, paracetamol and arnica cream if you have no allergies. Lips can be particularly sensitive and swelling may last for a few days. There is no evidence to date of any long-term safety concerns associated with the treatment, as the body naturally metabolises the product over time.
